Interpreting Fruit Data
Rind Color:
Letter Rating: (For Navels only as stated in California Department of Food and Agriculture Code):
B = 90% of the oranges in a given lot must have obtained a 25% color break from dark green to light green and must have a minimum sugar to acid ratio of 10:1. Numerically a 4.5 color.
X = Does not meet minimum standards for "B" color.
Rind Texture:
Numerical Scale:
4 = Dark Green
5 = Light Green with some break to Yellow
6 = Green-Yellow
8-10 = Yellow
11 = Yellow-Orange
12 = Orange
13 = Red-Orange
